Do you want to sing in styles you have’t been trained in but find it challenging to switch gears? Are you a classical singer who wants to sing pop or jazz? A jazz singer who wants to sing opera or musical theater? I can show you how to healthily train your voice to sing in styles you are not used to, without putting your vocal instrument at risk.

If you have been trained to sing a particular style of music, you most likely have been given exercises and practices that support the ‘sound’ of that style of music. A classical singer is trained in an entirely different way than a jazz singer or pop singer. Some reasons for this are:

  • Classical singing is not amplified with a microphone, so volume and resonance depends on you.

  • Some styles of music are head voice dominant while others are chest dominant.

  • Every style connects to human emotions differently, and so the sound is going to be process differently which effects the physiology of the throat/body

Because I teach from function as well as style, we can get down to the basics of what a certain style requires and begin with technique to strengthen your ability to move between genres. As someone who has trained and sung many styles, I find it very rewarding and fun to have more tools to sing whatever I feel like singing or am asked to sing.
